Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will hold its 11th FAMILY WALK on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Franciscan Communities in Crown Point. Close to 500 participants are expected with a fund-raising goal of $60,000.00. Franciscan Communities is located across the street from the county fair grounds. Breakfast and registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at approximately 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. This is a family friendly walk with musical guest entertainment and fun activities planned for your kids, such as a magic act, face painting and corn hole toss games. Come on out and support us - we're your LOCAL Alzheimer's organization. Controlled pets on leash are welcomed at the walk. The oldest Alzheimer's organization in Indiana, Alzheimer's & Dementia Services has served northern Indiana for over 28 years. Covering 11 counties, Alzheimer's & Dementia Services provides a wide variety of offerings at no charge for families and their caregivers with various types of dementia and memory loss. The organization also owns and operates Milton Adult Day Services in South Bend at its' location at 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617. Free services include Support Groups, monthly dementia education classes, care consultations, quarterly Newsletters, a toll-free Helpline, specialized educational workshops and seminars, a lending library and respite scholarship grants to those who meet the qualifications. It is important to know the monies raised by Alzheimer's & Dementia Services stay local and go back into the communities we serve. There is no charge for the services provided to caregivers and their families, except for reasonable fees for Milton Adult Day Services. We do not receive government funding and reply completely upon contributions such as major gifts, annual appeals, awarded grants and our two walks, our largest annual fund raisers.
