EVENT DETAILS

Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana will hold its 21st FAMILY WALK on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Newton Park in Lakeville.  Close to 500 participants are expected with a fund-raising goal of $60,000.00.  Newton Park is located on 31 South minutes from downtown South Bend and the 20 By-pass.  Breakfast and registration is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at approximately 9:30 to 10:00 a.m.  This is a family friendly walk with musical guest entertainment and fun activities planned for your kids, such as a magic act, face painting and corn hole toss games.  Come on out and support us - we're your LOCAL Alzheimer's organization.  Please be aware pets are not allowed at Newton Park.

Premier sponsor for the event is American Senior Communities, which operates a number of facilities in the area, such as Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation, Riverside Village and East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.  Financial Services Sponsor is John Hancock Financial Network.  A complete list of all corporate sponsors will be provided at the walk.  Consider becoming an all-important sponsor with exclusive incentives for your organization.  For details, call Kathryn at (574) 232-4121 or (888) 303-0180.

The oldest Alzheimer's organization in Indiana, Alzheimer's & Dementia Services has served northern Indiana for over 28 years.  Covering 11 counties, Alzheimer's & Dementia Services provides a wide variety of offerings at no charge for families and their caregivers with various types of dementia and memory loss.  The organization also owns and operates Milton Adult Day Services in South Bend at its' location at 922 E. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.  Free services include Support Groups, monthly dementia education classes, care consultations, quarterly Newsletters, a toll-free Helpline, specialized educational workshops and seminars, a lending library and respite scholarship grants to those who meet the qualifications.

It is important to know the monies raised by Alzheimer's & Dementia Services stay local and go back into the communities we serve.  There is no charge for the services provided to caregivers and their families, except for reasonable fees for Milton Adult Day Services.  We do not receive government funding and reply completely upon contributions such as major gifts, annual appeals, awarded grants and our two walks, our largest annual fund raisers.
